5 Simple Things You Can Do to Get the Most Out of Your Website

Apr 26, 2022 | Digital Marketing, Web Design

The old adage “build it and they will come” simply doesn’t work for websites. Over the last few decades, the online world has gotten increasingly more saturated. That’s great for users- they can find absolutely anything under the sun that they may be looking for!  However, it makes it much harder for your website for your small business or non-profit to stand out in the crowd.

You absolutely must do more than build a website to be seen these days.  Sure, you have to have a website.  But that is the bare minimum that a business (or organization) needs to establish an online presence.  Without additional effort, the majority of your audience may never see your website.  That means lost opportunities to turn potential web visitors into customers, clients, or donors.

Here are 5 things you can do to make sure your website is working for you and you’re getting the most out of it!

Analytics:

Make sure you’ve set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console to keep an eye on how your website is performing. Collecting information about where visitors are coming from, what visitors are searching to find your website, and what people are doing while they’re on your website is very valuable information.  After all, you can’t track what you can’t measure.  Keeping a pulse on your audience’s behavior can help keep you on the track to success!  Don’t know what’s most important to watch?

Google Business Profile:

Make sure you’ve set up your Google Business Profile. This is one of the best ways to increase your search engine rankings, help your audience find you, and establish the credibility of your business.  After it’s set up, keep your listing updated with accurate information and- best of all- reviews from happy customers.   Nothing establishes your brand reputation like positive reviews!  Speaking of reviews, would you take a minute to leave us one too

Staying Relevant:

Search engines use various algorithms to show us what’s most relevant to our specific search terms. That’s why it’s so important that you keep your website up-to-date with fresh and relevant copy (i.e. a blog) that discusses information and includes search terms your audience is looking for. The more you provide valuable, relevant content the easier it will be for search engines to recognize your relevance and, in turn, your audience to find you. Advertise:

In today’s age, there’s simply no way to guarantee that your website is at the very top of a Google search unless you pay to be there. You may have realized that depending on the search terms, anywhere from the first 3 to the first full page of a Google search is comprised of ads. Whether it’s display ads or keywords, strategic advertising can help new visitors find you online. Not sure where to start?

Tell Your Fans:

Use the fanbase you already have to help drive traffic to your website. Email your existing customers and make some announcements on your social channels. Invite people to share the news. Consider adding an exciting incentive for your fanbase to check out- perhaps a free resource or giveaway?  Need help figuring out newsletters or social media?

You’re doing great work and people need to know what you have to offer!  It’s exciting to launch a new website but watching it get traffic and grow your business…now that’s AWESOME!
